Horley Town 2
Raynes Park Vale 2
Horley welcomed Raynes Park to the New Defence for this FA tie hoping to have a good run in this great competition. After a fairly quiet start to the game, Raynes Park had their keeper sent off after 15 mins which should have given the advantage to Town, however Raynes Park went on the defensive and this made it hard for Town to break them down. Horley kept pressing but failed to take advantage of the extra man. The first half ended with the home team and fans frustrated and both teams goal less. The second half saw Town continue to dominate and the game game came to life in the 80th min, when Horley Capt Tony Jupp won the ball and passed to Jamie Liddell who had been recalled to the side after impressing in the reserve game against Sutton United. Liddell fed Toby Gilbert who blasted home. Town should have taken the tie, but on 84 mins Liam Cox was penalised for a trip on the Rayne Park striker and they were awarded a penalty which was converted to make it 1-1. 3 mins later Cox was again punished for a foul in the box and the 2nd penalty was successfully put away. With 3 mins left Town had nothing to lose and from the restart threw everything a Raynes Park and within a min had won a corner, with Town packing the box Herdman rose above his marker and got the vital equaliser to allow Town to get another chance in the replay. In a game Town should have won as Raynes Park only really created the 2 penalty chances, they were fortunate to get another chance in the FA Cup.
Team: Lockwood, Cox, T Jupp(Capt), Guscott, Herdman, Liddell, Clarke, Lavery, Adsett, T Gilbert, Brown. Subs C Weller, Marquis, M Gilbert.
