Horley Town Reserves 4
East Grinstead reserves 3
Towns first home league game of the season saw them welcome East Grinstead and after their superb performance away at Walton Casuals when they came away with a 1-1 draw manager Mark Gilbert was hoping to get 3 points and keep his teams good run of results from pre season going into the league. Town Started well and were soon on top with Rhod Davis opening the scoring with the first of his 2 goals. Town had 2 of their youth team players Lewis Forsdick at centre back and Harry Williams in the centre of midfield and these players looked comfortable at this level and very good prospects for the future. The half ended 2-0 with Town on top. The second half was more of the same with Town going 3 up thru Gary Tompkinson. East Grinstead pulled a goal back to make it 3-1, but Ross Jones scored the goal of the game with an over head kick to make it 4-1 with the 3 points going to Horley. Town replaced Williams, Weller with Messiah and Dean. While Town were getting used to the new shape Grinstead scored 2 goals to make the last few mins a little tense for manager Gilbert.
