Horley Town 0 - 0 East Preston - ReportHorley Town 0
East Preston 0
Horley’s first FA Cup game for many years saw them welcome East Preston to the New Defence. Town started the first half a little nervous and it showed in their play with the ball been given away to often. Neither team were taking control of the game, but the Preston number 8 was seeing far to much of the ball for Town manager Rennie’s liking. Nathan Jupp was trying to cause the Preston skipper problems in the air, but felt his arm on the back of head on more than 1 occaiseon only for the ref to seem happy to let him get away with it. The second half saw Town come out and start playing the better football with Darren Tidy continuing to cover every inch of the Preston end. On 65 mins Horley won a corner which James Clarke sent into the box and Elliot Lyward flicked on for Danny Guscott to head home, only for the Horley players and supporters to be amazed at the goal being disallowed for a foel on the keeper. Horley were now pushing Preston back in what was their best spell of the game and when Mark Gilbert send over a superb cross field ball, Charlie Adsett lost his marker and beat the keeper with a superb header only to see it come back off the far post. The last few mins saw both teams go close, but in the dying mins Town’s keeper made a fantastic save diving away to his right to push a goal bound shot around the post.
