Horley Town 2-0 Egham Town - ReportHorley Town 2
Egham Town 0
Town manager Ali Rennie had 10 first team players unavailble for this game through injury and other reasons. He called up 16 year old Rhys Brown who has been playing for Town's under 16's, Youth team and Reserves. Matt Trusson the youth team right back also got his second called up after making his first team debut last week at Reading. Andy Hook was the 4th Youth team player to be on the team sheet along with first team regular Kieran Lavery. Town started well and had both Lavery and Brown in the starting 11 and were soon creating chances. Lavery opened the scoring with a superb header from a corner on 34 mins. Egham tried to create some openings but with the centre back partnership of Chris Weller and Tony Jupp playing well together. Simon Lockwood in the Town goal looked to be guaranteed a quiet afternoon. When Egham did try and test Lockwood he was more than a match for the Egham strikers with a great show of confident catching and handling. Town continued to push forward in the second half with right and left backs Matt Hodge and Tom Winsor pushing the Egham midfield back into their own half and with the tireless running of Darren Tidey who was playing on the right of Town's midfield instead of his usual forward role and John Eldred working hard in central midfield. On the left of the Horley midfield was Mark Gilbert who was working well with Matt Hodge. Town went 2 up when Simon Lockwood found Nathan Jupp who did what he does best and beat the Egham centre back in the air and flicked the ball on for Rhys Brown to beat the keeper from 6 yards. Town were now in complete control and the 3 points looked totally secure. Darren Tidey was replaced by Matt Trusson with 15 mins to go, Nathan Jupp was replaced by Andy Hook.
