Horley Town 3 - 0 Cobham - Report

Horley Town 3

Cobham 0

Ali Rennie’s first league game in charge of Horley Town started with a home game against Cobham. After a nervous first 10 mins, Town started to control the game and were in front after 17mins with Darren Tidy opening his account on his return to league action for Horley. Town were now settling down and looking in control on what Cobham described as the best pitch they have ever played on. Cobham couldn’t push town back with the midfield of Dea’th, Norris, Guscott and Gilbert to strong for Cobham the solid defence of Weller, T Jupp, Winsor & Hodge looked their usual composed and reliable unit. Gilbert made it 2-0 on 35 mins and Town looked to be cruising to their first 3 points of the season, when Cobham were awarded a penalty which they missed. Gilbert didn’t make the same mistake with his penalty on 45 mins. The second half saw Town ease off when they should have continued to take the game to Cobham. N Jupp, Grant & Grant came on as second half substitutes to give fresh legs. With 169 people watching this game hopefully the crowds will increase to watch what is looking like a very good Horley Town team. Town are away on Weds to Raynes Park Vale and at Shoreham in the FA Cup.

Team: Lockwood, Weller, T Jupp (capt) Winsor, Hodge, Dea’th, Norris, Guscott, Gilbert, Tidy, Lyward; Subs N Jupp, Grant, Liddell, Clarke, Comber.

Well done Horley on your opening two victories this season, good luck in the cup this Saturday.
