Town’s reserves took on a strong Chipstead side and were looking to put in a good performance after their defeat against Merstham in their previous game. Town started well and were soon in front from a Asa Curtis goal. Chipstead were trying to get back into the game quickly, but with the Town centre backs of Branton and Herdman proving to be a match for their forwards it was going to be a tight game. Chipstead equalised from a shot from outside the box that the Horley keeper didn’t see come through the crowd of players. The second half saw both teams make changes with Joe Mortimer coming on for Horley replacing Dave Powell. Josh Howells the Town captain was giving a solid performance in the midfield alongside James Clarke, but they could find the final ball to create a clear goal scoring opportunity. Tom Tennant came on for Jamie Liddell on 80 mins, and the game looked to be heading for a draw, when Chipstead had a corner in the 88 min. The corner wasn’t cleared and in the scramble Chipstead managed to put the ball away and take a 2-1 victory away.
