Horley Town Youth 1-0 Margate Youth - FA Youth Cup- Report

Horley Town Youth 1

Margate Youth 0

Horley Town's under 18 sides first game in the FA Youth cup saw them drawn against Kent side Margate. After seeing the first team exit the senior cup at the weekend, the youth team were hoping to keep Horley in 1 of the FA cups. Town started well with everyone looking focused and comfortable on the ball. Matt Trusson was in inspired form at right back and was soon causing Margate problems with his surging runs. Town continued to attack margate on both wings with Luke Ragetti having plenty of the ball on the left. Town took the lead after Trusson sent over a superb ball from the by line and Rhys Brown got in front of his marker to fire the ball past the Margate keeper. Immediatley after the goal Horley settled down and played some of the best football they have played. The half ended with Town going in 1 up, but should have been in a more comfortable position if they had they taken their chances. The second half saw horley continue to dominate with Lke Ragetti going close with a fiercly struck freekick from 30 yards. Kieran Lavery went close, but town needed the second goal to ease them into the next round. Margate knowing the game was slipping away through everything at Town's defence, but with skipper Liam Cox and his centre back partner Peter White in control. Margate couldn't find the equaliser and the tie ended 1-0 to Horley and a next round tie against Tonbridge on Weds 27 sept at the New Defence.

Team: Crawley, Trusson, Cox (capt) White, Alpes, Chapman, Keepen, Lavery, Ragetti, Messaih, Brown, subs: Froud, Newton, Lawrence, Stamp.
