Town went to Merstham fresh from their convincing victory against Dorking. Merstham started better then Horley who seemed to have forgotten how to play football as they were producing the worst football of their season so far. Merstham took the lead from a corner after their forward had a free header. Town couldn't get their game together and were lucky not to be dead and buried as Mersham missed 2 more chances to put the game out of reach in the first 25 mins. On 36 mins Horley were awarded a free kick 25 yards out which Andy Hook took and forced a good save from the Merstham keeper, Carl Bettell reacted first to put the the ball back across the goal for Chris Stamp to head home. In first half injury time a long ball from the Town defence missed by the Merstham defender allowing Stamp to drill the ball past the stranded keeper. The second half saw Luke Ragetti replace Ross Quinell in the centre of midfield. Steve Crawley in the Horley goal produced the save of the night when he flew to his right and tipped the ball round the post when it looked a certain goal. With 70 mins gone Town produced the move of the game with Hook playing the ball down the left wing to Bettell who did well and passed the ball inside to Stamp who pushed the ball through to Ragetti who hit it first time across the keeper and into the left hand corner of the goal. Town were now looking comfortable and replaced Stamp with Messiah. With 2 mins Joe Froud fouled in the area and Mertsham were awarded a penalty which Crawley almost kept out.With the score 3-2 it lead to a frantic final minute with Merstham trying to get the equaliser.
