Raynes Park 0 - 3 Horley Town FC - Report

RAYNES PARK VALE 0

HORLEY TOWN 3

Horley travelled to Raynes Park Vale in good mood after their win on Saturday, and started very brightly and played a fast passing game from the start.
They should have been given a penalty in the first 10 minutes when Guscott was brought down but to the astonishment of everyone in the ground the ref played on indicating that the defender made contact with the ball.
Horley continued to pass the ball well and after 25 minutes gained a corner, which Darren Tidy fired into the box for James Grant to head home from 12 yards. It was a time for sustained pressure from Horley and they created 3 good openings which they were unlucky not to put away. In the 45th minute another great move from the back found Darren Tidy out wide, he beat the full back and fired in a low cross which Mark Gilbert tucked away to send the visitors in 2 up at half time.
The second half started as the first half finished with Horley on the attack and after 5 minutes they were awarded a free kick 22 yards out and the clever James Clarke asked the ref if he could take quickly and before the wall could be set up he smashed it into the net to put them 3 up.
The heavy rains came but even this could not stop Horley's passing game and again created 3 good chances but could not add to their goal tally. In the last 10 minutes Horley took the foot off and let Raynes Park take control but the defence marshalled brilliantly by skipper Tony Jupp held firm. It is very hard to single out any one player as the whole team played a crucial part in this very good performance.

Team; Lockwood, Weller, Norris, T Jupp (capt) Hodge, Clarke, M Gilbert, Guscott, Grant, Tidy, N Jupp, Subs: Winsor, Lyward, Death, Liddell
